Over the course of my career I have set down a path for creating rich elaborate handmade ceramic work that combines elements of functional pottery, vessel, and sculpture — exploration of the decorative clay surface is the unifying element.

Recently, I have been working with larger ceramic vessels: I feel this provides new opportunity to explore how outward visual impressions inform our experiences of both people and art.

As a black woman of color, my African American and Native American, and European ancestry, influences my exploration of artistic visual languages that uses a myriad of decorative techniques, overlapping pattern and color provides. This provides me with endless possibilities to express through the clay form and surface, concepts of identity, history, materiality, and design.
